In the MOBA League of Legends, the champ Gangplank is indeed alive, albeit not entirely whole.
That was at least a mild shock last week when a short story was published by Riot, in which Gangplank kissed the planks of eternity, so to speak, lowering his sails. Miss Fortune had taken care of him.
To ensure that the fans understood this was serious, Riot quickly banned Gangplank from all game modes and stated: “Gangplank is dead. He is banned. Finitio.” The developers reinforced this with some comments, creating the impression: Perhaps he is really gone for good. Fans were already demanding that Riot refund the points spent on the skins.
Now an epilogue to the story has been released on the Riot homepage and it turns out [Spoiler]: Gangplank barely survived, but only with one arm. This means: He is coming back, but with a new standard look.
Those who complete a matchmaking game with Gangplank by August 10 at 11:00 AM German time will also receive a free skin Captain Gangplank. This is meant to be remembered in League of Legends as a reminder of simpler, carefree times in Gangplank’s life.
