With Evercore Heroes (PC), a new multiplayer game is being released that transports the gameplay of League of Legends into a PvE environment.
Games like League of Legends or DOTA 2 reach millions of players every year. However, they are pure PvP grinders, the tone can often be quite rough, and getting started can be a test of patience.
Evercore Heroes draws on the popular gameplay approaches, the isometric camera, and even the visuals, but does not build yet another LoL clone with PvP – rather it creates a co-op game with “competitive PvE”.
- Evercore Heroes is released as a free-to-play game for PC. To participate in the closed beta, however, you must buy at least a €20 package or be invited by someone who has a package (via Evercore Store). The beta starts on June 20, 2023.
With the gameplay reveal, the developers have now revealed how the matches unfold and MeinMMO summarizes the game principle. You can also watch the English trailer for the reveal:
Evercore Heroes offers “competitive PvE”
How do the matches unfold? Games follow four specific phases. Matches also start with four teams of four players each, two of whom will be eliminated before the final phase.
- Phase 1 – Team Selection
You assemble your team from three different roles: Tank, Support, Damage Dealer. You can set your desired abilities beforehand, and there are customizable items for combat.
- Phase 2 – Building Evercore
There are different worlds with varying challenges. The same world may also offer different enemies during the next run. In this phase, you level up your characters and collect “Luum”, which allows you to build up your Evercore and make it stronger. You can see at any time how far the other teams are.
- Phase 3 – Defending Evercore
Up to the final, two events start with attacks on your Evercore. The waves of monsters also differ in each run. Teams that lose their Evercore during the attacks are eliminated. You can then immediately start a new match and do not have to wait for the end.
- Phase 4 – Final
The final phase leads to a showdown in the PvE competition. Each world offers a different event: it could be a boss fight or something completely different. The team that completes the challenge the fastest wins the match in Evercore Heroes.
Whether in items, levels, controls, or abilities: Evercore Heroes strongly draws from PvP MOBA competitors at first glance, but attempts it with a PvE approach.
However, it also has some unique mechanics, such as random shops and abilities on the battlefield that give your champions an extra boost or customizable heroes that become stronger over time and unlock new abilities.
