The next raid weekend in Pokémon GO has been announced. The duo Latias and Latios will return for a few days and will also be catchable as Shiny.
When will Latias and Latios come? The duo will return to Pokémon GO next weekend, from January 24 at 10 PM to January 27 at 10 PM.
You will effectively be able to raid mainly on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. On Friday, it will already be too late for raids at 10 PM.
All information on the return of Latias and Latios
How does a raid weekend go? Recently, there was a such event with Ho-oh and Lugia. They spawned together with Virizion in level-5 raids. So, it can be assumed that Heatran will also continue to be found in raids during this raid weekend.
The number of level-5 raids was not increased at the last event. This is likely to be the case again. So, you may have to search a bit more for level-5 raids here and there.
What about Shiny Latias and Latios? Since the last return of the two Pokémon, they can also be caught as Shiny. You will encounter them as Shiny again next weekend.
The differences between the normal form and the Shiny can be easily recognized. Latias is yellow/gold as Shiny, while Latios is greenish.
How likely is a Shiny? The rate is likely to be as usual at a legendary raid at 1 in 19. So you have a pretty good chance of getting a Shiny.
Do you need Latias and Latios in battle? Latias is not really relevant to the meta of Pokémon GO. Latios, however, is better. It belongs to the best dragon attackers in the game and scores especially with its fast charging move Dragon Claw.
So, regardless of the Shinies, you should mainly do Latios raids. The Pokémon is worth it.
There may soon be a new EX raid boss. We present possible candidates:
