In Destiny 2, the clocks could soon show much more towards Destiny 1. Will a visit to the old Tower take place soon, and is the Traveler healed again?
This is what you can expect soon in Destiny 2: A new artwork has emerged that makes the hearts of veterans race. Because there are two interesting aspects to find that Beyond Light will spice up with a hefty portion of Destiny 1:
- The old Tower is shown in perfect condition
- Our destroyed protector, the Traveler, is healed again
Check out the telling image here, showing three Guardians in front of the old Tower and the intact Traveler:
Where does the information come from? The dataminer Felwinter_123 shared the image on October 24 via reddit. He found it in the codes of the PlayStation Store.
It is 100% not a forgery. Because recently, the PlayStation Store has also officially used the image. Under the category “Add-ons by Game”, it now appears for Destiny 2 alongside current games like FIFA 21:

This is what it is about with the “old Tower”: The old Tower was the headquarters of the Guardians in Destiny 1, the social space. Here was the post office, the Vanguard leaders, and of course the iconic Sweeper Bots. It was a place to prepare for raids or brag about high levels. This is where Guardian everyday life took place.
- This Tower was destroyed at the start of Destiny 2.
- We couldn’t do anything against the attacking Cabal and failed for the first time completely.
- Provisonally, the Farm was our new headquarters.
- The Traveler exerted its last strength against our enemy – afterward it shattered.
- Since then, we have built the “new Tower”, which currently serves as a social space.
For many players, their first steps and stellar moments in the MMO shooter universe are associated with the old Tower. Thus, some veterans feel more like frequent guests in the new Tower than at home. Even in Destiny 1, the later introduced Felwinter Peak (alternative social space) could not replace the old Tower.
Also in Destiny 2, we can now already pay a short visit to the old Tower. Namely in the incredibly hard Mission Hour Zero. But it will soon disappear from the game.
The Guardians speculate about the future of Destiny 2: Beyond Light
What could this mean? Under the reddit post, users are actively speculating about what the old Tower and the healed Traveler have to do with Destiny 2 Beyond Light.
- In the now 3 years since the destruction, the old Tower has been rebuilt. Some NPCs could be drawn here. Since Ada-1 or Benedict will soon be of no use in the current Tower – we could have two Towers.
- Some believe that Destiny 2 is removing the events of the Red War from the canon. Accordingly, our fight against Ghaul and the Cabal did not take place. This would fit with receiving a new backstory in the DLC.
- Other Guardians note that it is not exactly the “old Tower”, but only a similar replica. Accordingly, we would only be further renovating the new Tower.
- Some Guardians suspect that the Traveler will regain its former strength during Beyond Light and in the next expansions. The final battle between Light and the emerging Darkness is supposed to take place in 2022.
What do you think, will we soon return to the old Tower? Or do you already feel at home in your current headquarters?
By the way, a lot more content from Destiny 1 will be coming soon. We know that the legendary raid Glass Vault is coming and that a mysterious new character will guide us through the Cosmodrome. Or will a known killer train the new players?
