The big collecting event in World of Warcraft is coming to an end. If you haven’t got everything yet, you need to step it up.
In recent weeks, significantly fewer characters have been seen in the capital city of Dornogal in World of Warcraft. However, looking at the friends list revealed that most were venturing into old areas or visiting old raids. Because a bonus called “Bounty of the Collector” greatly increased the drop chance of mounts and transmog items. But soon the event will end. Now is the last chance to grab some cool mounts.
What exactly is this bonus? The “Bounty of the Collector” increases the chance of a rare mount dropping in all dungeons and raids before the Dragonflight expansion by a solid 5%. So if a mount has a drop chance of 0.7%, it rises to 5.7% during the event. This already makes it quite likely to obtain the mount if you farm the corresponding dungeon or raid with multiple characters.
Additionally, all bosses also drop double the amount of transmog loot. This way, you can particularly quickly gather old tier sets as well as special weapon skins and massively expand your wardrobe.
When does the bonus end? This Wednesday morning, specifically on July 30, 2025, the event will end in the morning hours. Accordingly, you should make the most of today and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday) to farm particularly sought-after mounts and replenish your collection.
As for whether and when the event will return, that is still unclear. However, since this bonus was extremely well received by the community, it’s only a matter of time before Blizzard activates the increased drop chance once again. Perhaps during the “Midnight” expansion.
Community wants the event to be permanent or part of the Timewalking
The event was so well received by many that they believe this bonus should remain active. This would prevent the FOMO of the event and at the same time encourage people to continue playing old content. However, there are also alternative proposals in the WoW subreddit on how to make the increased drop chance a permanent feature of World of Warcraft:

Each timewalking has a cycle of about 4 months before it becomes active again (outside of the timewalking event), so there would still be enough ‘FOMO’ to draw people in.
