Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa is a well-known name on the streaming platform Twitch. She is both the largest female streamer and extremely controversial. She has been banned multiple times. Now, she explains in an interview why gamers actually have no reason to demonize her and her content.
Who is the streamer?
- Amouranth is known for her controversial content. She rose to fame with the “Hot-Tub meta” on Twitch and regularly reaches over 10,000 viewers with her ASMR streams.
- In her streams, she often appears scantily clad and plays with her charms, which has earned her several bans.
- She is now even investing long-term, for example in gas stations and kiosks. By the end of 2021, she revealed that she earns over €1.3 million a month.
- According to the analytics site streamcharts , Amouranth was the most-watched female streamer in 2021, with over 38 million viewing hours – ahead of the well-known Pokimane.
This is what she says now: In an interview with VICE on December 30, 2021, Amouranth spoke among other things about her status on Twitch. Her streams, in which she often wears little clothing, are frequently criticized. She finds it hypocritical, as she says:
It is ironic that people have a problem with real women embracing their sexuality while women in video games for teenagers and adults are constantly sexualized.
There are games like Dead or Alive, where women in bikinis fight with their butts and try to unbalance each other. There is GTA with strippers and that’s okay.

What is the problem? According to Amouranth, it is acceptable for gamers when women are sexualized in games. However, when women do it themselves to earn money, it suddenly becomes unacceptable.
She sees it as an injustice: “Only real women are not allowed to embrace their sexuality for lucrative gain. But men can create female characters in video games and sell them to the masses, and that is completely accepted.”
Amouranth has previously stated that she has a harder time in the business as a woman in general and on Twitch in particular compared to her male colleagues:
What is Twitch’s stance on the topic? Especially in adult games like Cyberpunk 2077 or the Witcher series, sex plays a significant role repeatedly. In the realm of gaming and art, this is a common theme; however, Twitch itself has stricter guidelines – at least partially.
The well-known MMORPG streamer Sodapoppin got lost in a sex dungeon and received a ban for it. For him and his community, it was a rather amusing endeavor, but the platform’s ban policy is constantly under criticism.
