Zack “Asmongold” is the largest MMORPG streamer on Twitch with 3.2 million followers and over 100,000 average viewers. He was recently banned from the platform due to a player’s inappropriate behavior in Diablo Immortal.
What is the situation?
- Asmongold’s second channel “zackrawrr” was set to be banned for 24 hours, which meant he could not stream with his main channel. This happened because a player made a racist remark in the public chat of Diablo Immortal, which was visible in the livestream.
- He subsequently released a statement on YouTube, which has generated 1.6 million views to date.
- The streamer stated there that he felt insulted by Twitch. It troubled him that the platform thinks he supports and allows such racist statements.
- He also filed an appeal against the ban and emphasized that he used 4,000 of the 5,000 possible characters.

Twitch denies appeal but unbans Asmongold anyway
What happened after the appeal? Asmongold narrated that Twitch rejected his private appeal and he would remain banned. He then mentioned that he had to discuss it publicly since nothing happened after the appeal.
I write the appeal, I sent it in and nothing happened, so I had to make it public. Then something was finally done. I find that very unprofessional, let’s be honest, that’s ridiculous.

About 8 hours after the video was released, Asmongold was unbanned by Twitch.
He referred to the person who imposed the ban on him as an idiot and wondered if the employee was too lazy to understand the context or simply disliked Asmongold.
After that, he offered the platform his help regarding equal moderation. The streamer stated that policies should be applied evenly to all people, and special cases should be considered particularly.
Furthermore, Asmongold constantly sees people on Twitch trying to insert racist or other derogatory remarks in the chat or stream through small, inconspicuous comments. He notices such things and can help Twitch to ban such individuals.
“I apparently understand these things better than they [Twitch] do,” Asmongold concluded.
