During a Twitch Rivals tournament of the Battle Royale Fall Guys, there was a big uproar surrounding the Twitch streamer Felix “xQc” Lengyel. He played unfairly, which led fellow streamers to even call for a Twitch ban.
What happened: Diverse Twitch streamers gathered over the weekend for a major tournament in Fall Guys. In various teams, streamers like xQc, shroud, Tfue, and Tyler1 competed against each other.
The streamer xQc made a mistake. He could no longer win, but then he held onto an opponent so that they would be eliminated as well. This gave xQc’s teammate an advantage.
Actually, this is nothing unusual in Fall Guys. However, xQc cheated: He concurrently watched the opponent’s stream and thus knew which player he needed to hold onto. Because in Fall Guys, no names are displayed.
For other streamers who were also present, this was a clear case of “stream sniping,” which is prohibited. After all, xQc only knew whom to hold by watching the opponent’s stream. It was also explosive because there was a prize pool of $11,000 for the winning team.
Verbal Exchange and Call for Ban
How it was responded to: Some other streamers reviewed the situation afterwards. We embed the clip of Twitch bully Tyler1 reacting to the situation:
In the clip, you can see at the very end that xQc has a small window open where he is watching Dr. Lupo’s stream, his opponent. Only then could he really know which player he needed to hold.
Also, shroud responded to this. He was also part of the tournament and did not like xQc’s action. He says in his stream that he had praised him for being hilarious, “but now he does this and all my respect is just gone.”
He further explains: “No major partner has ever done this. He just literally wrote Twitch history […] I am so shocked because I do not know what will happen. I don’t even think Twitch knows. I don’t know if they will ban him for a week, a month, or three days. I have no idea.”
Why is this being discussed so intensely? Simply holding is common practice in Fall Guys and not an issue. However, the fact that xQc left his opponent’s stream open is prohibited. The tournament rules stated that stream sniping is forbidden. Since exactly that happened, other streamers are calling for a ban.
Big Streamers Yelling at Each Other on Twitch
Where the exchange occurred: Tyler1 confronted xQc in a later match and verbally attacked him. Tfue, who was on xQc’s team, also jumped in to defend him.
It all ended in a verbal exchange, and the streamers yelled loudly at each other:
This is what’s special about the action: In this situation, four of the biggest streamers on Twitch were involved. They are major voices of the Twitch community, and their fans continued the exchange on Twitch and Twitter.
How xQc later responded: The streamer apologized after some time on Twitter for his behavior. He wrote that his viewers should not defend him and stated: “I’m sorry for my actions. I thought it would be funny. It didn’t change the outcome, but it was still malicious.”
Twitch has not yet responded to the action. It is still unclear whether xQc will be banned or if he will get away with a warning.
xQc is known for his loud outbursts and his crazy nature. In August 2020, the streamer still loudly complained about Twitch culture, even though he is extremely successful on the platform:
