In the forum of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, strict behavioral rules should apply. However, publisher Deep Silver has changed its mind and discarded most of the rules. Instead, they are now relying on the goodwill of the community.
What did the rules look like? It was only on January 17, 2025, that the publisher of Kingdom Come 2, Deep Silver, published a code of conduct for the game’s forums. So, for example, the community section on Steam.
It stated that there is a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to discrimination. Specifically, any form of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism was prohibited – to name just a few topics. Hate speech and dangerous ideologies like neo-Nazism were also not to be tolerated.
Those who violate the rules must face consequences. These range from the deletion of the respective post to being banned from the forum (via pcgamer.com)
Now, however, Deep Silver has backtracked. Instead of the detailed set of rules, users can expect a much more streamlined version of it.
Kingdom Come Deliverance has recently presented its roadmap – watch a video about it here:
Please be kind to each other
What do the new rules look like? Where it was once detailed what is prohibited and counts as discrimination, the new rules on Steam appear much simpler.
Under the point “Respect others,” it now says:
Treat everyone fairly. We are not trying to suppress free expression, but personal attacks and criticism of others for their decisions – whether in-game or in conversations – have no place here.

Apart from that, the publisher also requests that all discussions focus on the game itself, refrain from spoiling, and avoid spam or self-promotion. The Steam guidelines must also be adhered to.
Overall, the new rules are formulated much more vaguely. While the first version of the code clearly defined all relevant areas and showed what is not allowed, the second version offers more room for interpretation and loopholes.
How does Deep Silver justify this step? The publisher explains the decision as follows:
In recent days, we have listened to your feedback and updated our community guidelines to better create the space we all desire. We have made them clearer, simpler, and shorter to keep things fair, respectful, and focused – thank you all for being a part of this journey with us.

It remains to be seen how the community will react to the changes and whether the new rules will work. Regardless of how they are formulated, it should be clear that there is no place for discrimination and hatred in the gaming community.
