Könner plays MMORPG for a special item, breaks record and only needs 1,758 hours

A player has completed a tough challenge in the MMORPG Old School RuneScape and has beaten the previous speedrun of another player. Now he can look forward to a special item.

What has the player accomplished? The Old School RuneScape player “he box jonge” has completed an extremely challenging speedrun through the MMORPG Old School RuneScape. He took “only” 1,758 hours and 45 minutes to “complete” the MMORPG.

In doing so, he faced a special challenge, the “Ultimate Ironman” mode.

Ironman mode makes Old School RuneScape even harder

What kind of challenge is this? In Old School RuneScape, there is a special challenge: If you achieve all skills at the maximum rank (99), you receive a special Max cape.

Leveling all skills is considered to be the “completing” of the game in RuneScape, as there is no other fixed goal in this sandbox MMORPG.

If completing the game in a standard way is not challenging enough for you, you can make it even tougher.

For this, there is the “Ultimate Ironman” mode. In this special mode, your character is subject to severe restrictions, which are meant to make the challenge even harder:

• You cannot trade with other players. This makes leveling some skills harder.
• Additionally, you cannot store items in your bank and are always dependent on your inventory space.
• All group activities, like group bosses or quests, do not earn you any rewards, with a few exceptions for the bosses.
• If you die, you cannot protect your most valuable items.

What is special about this player? The previous record for the “Ultimate Ironman” mode was 2,945 play hours set by the player p_the_menace. “he box jonge” has significantly beaten the record with his 1,758 hours.

To save time, he leveled the hard skills first, which typically require much more time. For this reason, he leveled the skill “Fishing,” which is considered very easy to level by players, as the last skill to its maximum.
