The name of the German publisher Koch Media is currently causing fits of laughter among English-speaking fans of Conan Exiles and journalists.
For us Germans, it’s hard to understand, but Americans and Brits are currently having fun that the German publisher “Koch Media” will bring the retail versions of Conan Exiles to stores in 2018.
The reason lies in the fact that Conan Exiles is known for its raunchy portrayal of penises. There are penis sliders, penis dances, and penises have their own swing physics. At the beginning, there was hardly any other topic in Conan Exiles. But what does that have to do with Koch Media?
Well, English-speaking ears can’t make sense of the German word “Koch” because they are not familiar with the “ch” in that form. To them, the “ch” becomes “ck,” and thus, “Koch” turns into “Cock” – which is slang for penis.
So, to some English journalists, it currently sounds like “Cock Media” is publishing Conan Exiles. Huge laugh.
Release version of Conan Exiles will also be in stores for PS4, PC, and Xbox One
To the point: Conan Exiles is set to leave Early Access in early 2018. Then the game will also be in stores for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
Funcom is planning a boxed release version. To this end, Funcom is making a deal with Koch Media to publish the game worldwide.
In the accompanying press release, there are surprisingly few penis jokes. Instead, Funcom and Koch Media praise each other in the highest terms and announce that they intend to release the game in all major regions of the world.
Funcom and Koch Media have collaborated before, 10 years ago on Age of Conan: Rise of the Godslayer.
