It is like cursed. Kingdom under Fire 2 is an insanely expensive MMO that was supposed to be released for PC and PS4 in 2018. But it seems to have disappeared again. Meanwhile, KuF2 was supposed to celebrate its release in Europe and North America right now.
Kingdom under Fire 2 is a siege MMO with a turbulent past. The original series “Kingdom under Fire” has earned a good reputation on Xbox consoles. However, there is an epic back-and-forth regarding the new game. KuF2 has been announced multiple times, but it has never really landed here in the West.
Among fans of Asian MMOs, there is now a joke:
- “Where will Kingdom under Fire 2 be released?”
- “On PS4 and PC?”
- “No, at game conferences.”

Kingdom under Fire 2 thrilled AngryJoe in 2014
You just lose sight of the game again and again.
Kingdom under Fire 2 was already announced for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2009, then it disappeared for ages. Later, a PC version ran in Southeast Asia. Suddenly, the developers beat the drum and presented Kingdom under Fire 2 at E3 2014 with big ambitions. The presentation thrilled, among others, YouTuber AngryJoe, who showcased it as his top game of E3 2014.
When it reappeared, the siege MMO had cost 78 million US dollars in development, making Kingdom under Fire II the most expensive Korean MMO of all time.
The great triumph of Kingdom under Fire 2 was supposed to begin in 2017/2018
In February 2017, developer Blueside released joyful signals. They were finally gearing up for the attack: Kingdom under Fire 2 was supposed to be released for PC in China and Russia.
Then they planned a launch for PC and PS4 in North America and Europe for the end of 2017/start of 2018.

Southeast Asia version discontinued without a sound
In April 2017, the operator of the Southeast Asia version of KuF2 announced: We are discontinuing Kingdom under Fire 2 for a number of “unforeseen reasons.”
Since then, nothing has been heard about a launch of Kingdom under Fire 2 in Europe or North America. Since February 2017, there has been no news from Blueside about Kingdom under Fire 2 that has somehow reached the West.
Currently, a closed beta of Kingdom under Fire 2 is running in Russia. Originally, according to the initial plans, it was supposed to transition to an open beta six months ago.

The latest news from Korea points in a different direction. Apparently, developer Blueside has now developed ambitions in India and the Middle East. They plan to distribute Kingdom under Fire 2 there. A mobile version is also reportedly in development.
Whether Kingdom under Fire 2 will ever be released in North America and Europe for PS4 and PC is currently again up in the air. Until the next big announcement, presumably at a game fair, Kingdom under Fire 2 can once again be considered lost.
