Graphics cards used to cost a fortune and were hardly affordable. But with the release of the RTX 4000, older cards from AMD and Nvidia are becoming cheaper. The self-proclaimed “King of Graphics Cards” is now selling them like vegetables on the street.
For a while, one could also make good money with old graphics cards as they were worth quite a bit again due to the raw material shortages and the mining boom. However, the situation has since changed:
- The Bitcoin has nearly halved in value and now stands at around 20,000 Euros
- With the release of the RTX 4090 and the imminent launch of the RTX 4080, older graphics cards are getting significantly cheaper as retailers want to clear space in their stock.
- The supply of GPUs is much better than a few years ago, when miners and gamers were fighting over the models and greedy retailers also wanted a say.
A well-known Vietnamese, who calls himself the “King of Graphics Cards,” has now posted pictures of him selling graphics cards. Anyone who encounters the seller can currently buy GPUs like fruit or vegetables.
AMD has introduced its latest graphics cards, the RX 7900 XTX and the RX 7900 XT. You can find all the information directly on MeinMMO:
“King of Graphics Cards” sells kilograms of hardware like a market vendor
Lê Thành from Vietnam, the self-proclaimed “King of Graphics Cards,” is having fun on Facebook. In photos and videos shared on the social media site, it looks like the shop has started using street vendor tactics to lure passersby and sell them GPUs by the kilogram.
Our title image and the following image come from Lê Thành’s official post on Facebook.
What do you see in the pictures? Lê Thành has set up a stand (via tomshardware.com). But instead of selling fruits and vegetables, he sells hundreds of graphics cards. The models are piled up in front of him, lying in boxes next to him, and you can also spot some GPUs in the background. Next to the “King” stands an old-fashioned green food scale.
He sells a graphics card to a motorcyclist along with a plastic bag in which one would normally buy fruit.
Where the king got the graphics cards from is unknown
Where do the dozens of graphics cards come from? Lê Thành does not explain in his post where all the graphics cards come from and which models they might be. Especially the green sales boxes visible in the background suggest that these are Nvidia graphics cards.
After the cryptocurrency crash, thousands of miners in mild panic sold graphics cards cheaply to at least limit their losses. At first glance, the offer in the pictures appears as if the person has disassembled countless mining rigs and is now reselling the old models.
The whole situation seems a bit strange, and we would advise you against buying such graphics cards that are being dumped on the roadside. There are several factors to consider when looking to buy old graphics cards.
