Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was a big revelation for many fans of the RPG genre in 2025. Now, nearly a year after the release, Daniel Vávra, the lead developer at Warhorse, is stepping down from his position. He wants to focus on another project within the series.
According to the Czech website Czechcrunch, Daniel Vávra is no longer the Creative Director at Warhorse Studios. The site quotes Martin Frývaldský, the CEO of Warhorse Studios, who states that Vávra has a new role. He is to realize a film based on Kingdom Come.

. There is already a first draft for a potential adaptation. They are already in negotiations, but they do not want to simply sell the film rights: We want the film to be as we envision it.

In the past, Vávra was known to be outspoken against criticism and other accusations. Prior to the release, he spoke with users against the claims that his game is woke and therefore the pre-sales are collapsing.
He also angrily reacted to a review of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that brought down his Metacritic score. Elsewhere, he also expressed optimism about generative AI, currently a rather controversial topic. He called the technology an inevitable future (Source: PCGamesN).
According to Martin Frývaldský, Vávra voluntarily changed positions. He wants to try something different and is not involved in the next game from Warhorse.
It will probably take some time before more concrete information about the film, or even trailers or first images will emerge. For many fans, it will probably be a positive sign that the Creative Director of the series will also be involved in a film project.
