Problems catching legendary Pokémon? The last Premier Ball is apparently bugged and only catches Pokémon under one condition. Players are complaining about this Pokémon GO error.
Catching legendary Pokémon is a significant challenge for players from the Pokémon GO community. The battles against Lugia, Articuno, and Moltres have thus far gone relatively “easily” and could be completed quickly. The bigger hurdle is catching these monsters. The base catch chance is about 3% and now a bug also causes the last ball to hardly work.
The last Premier Ball is probably broken!
Worldwide, trainers are reporting problems with the last Premier Ball in Pokémon GO. These are the balls you receive after a raid to catch the raid boss. While some Premier Balls work as intended, the last one causes problems.
Apparently, you can only catch a Pokémon with the last Premier Ball if it is a Critical Catch. Critical Catches are rare and happen randomly. They let the ball wobble only once and then guarantee the catch of the Pokémon.
If the last Premier Ball is not a Critical Catch, every raid boss Pokémon flees. This is a claim that trainers around the world are now investigating.
It is still not 100% certain whether this bug actually occurs. However, it is advised to pretend you have one less Premier Ball, as the last one is apparently unreliable.
Trainers seek counter-evidence
On the internet, trainers are trying to find proof that it is a coincidence and not a bug. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that the last ball seemingly cannot catch raid bosses. Unless it is a “Critical Catch.”
On Reddit, trainer CaptainMorti has offered a “bounty.” He is looking for a trainer who can prove to him that they caught a legendary Pokémon with the last Premier Ball. Critical Catches are excluded. If a trainer manages to provide this proof, they will receive a Reddit Gold gift.
CaptainMorti is also convinced that the last Premier Ball is bugged. He has not seen a trainer in real life who successfully caught a legendary Pokémon with the last ball. The last ball always does the same: wobbles once, then the Pokémon breaks out and flees.
In the following videos, two trainers demonstrate that the last ball does not even work with Magikarp.
So far, no trainer on Reddit has been able to provide proof that the last Premier Ball can catch a monster without a “Critical Catch.” There has been no statement from Niantic on this matter yet. It is possible that the bug is a synchronization issue. Perhaps this ball does not exist for the game at all, which is why it has these problems.
We will continue to monitor this phenomenon and report on any news.
