Players of Sea of Thieves have been looking forward to this battle since the first testing phases: pirates against a powerful Kraken. However, the excitement in this battle is not as high as expected. The community thinks: There is more to come!

When data miners encountered the Kraken during the tests of Sea of Thieves, the excitement in the community was high. They imagined fierce sea battles in which the huge water monster must be defeated. Later, leaked screenshots revealed that the Kraken feature was indeed coming to the game.
Now Sea of Thieves is released, and the first players have encountered the Kraken up close. The encounter is exciting. A random encounter suddenly selects a location in the sea, where the water turns black. Ships suddenly stop and can no longer move. The Kraken holds you fast and challenges you to fight.
At first, as a player, you are completely overwhelmed; huge tentacles rise from the water and can pull players (with their mouths?) off the ship. But not much more happens. You can defend yourself against the creature with cannons and your weapons and attack the tentacles. Once you have taken out all tentacles, the fight is over.
You don’t see a big monster, just the tentacles. Even underwater, there is simply no body to it. In the video by super 21314, you can see a full-length encounter with the Kraken.
There must be more, right?
The reactions to the first encounters with the Kraken are mixed. Some are happy to have finally “seen” this mysterious monster but found the fight not so great.
Reddit user jimba22 writes, “Yes, the Kraken needs to be somehow more terrifying than it is now.” and such feedback is often seen. Players want a bigger challenge; the Kraken should be able to make holes in the ship and have much more impact in the game. And a body would also be nice.
Furthermore, there is a desire for a reward for killing this opponent. It doesn’t have to be a treasure chest right away, but at least a sound or some gold coins along with a message saying, “Well done, you defeated the beast.”
Perhaps the Kraken adapts to the players’ levels and scales with its abilities. This way, it would be clear that beginners have a somewhat “boring fight” against the Kraken, while players in the endgame have to work hard to defeat the beast. This would at least explain why we haven’t seen a fight with more action yet.
