The successor to TERA has been announced and a few exciting details revealed. Those with a powerful smartphone can look forward to TERA Frontier.
A few days ago, the publisher Kakao Games, most likely known from Black Desert, announced that they have secured the worldwide publishing rights to a new MMORPG. It is about “TERA Frontier”, a mobile MMORPG based on the original TERA for PC.
What do we know about TERA Frontier? So far not much. It is only known that it is being developed for mobile devices and utilizes the powerful Unreal Engine 4.
That sounds like TERA Frontier will focus on appealing graphics, for which the original TERA was also known at launch.
When is the release of TERA Frontier? A specific release date for TERA Frontier has not yet been provided. Kakao Games has only announced that they intend to release the MMORPG “in 2019,” within the next 13 months. This suggests that development has already progressed quite far.
The last mobile project for TERA, TERA M, is considered a failure. The game from Netmarble fell significantly short of expectations, as MMO Culture states.
Will the game also be released in Europe? Nothing is known about that yet. Kakao Games has secured the “worldwide” publishing rights, so there is nothing standing in the way of a release in Germany and Europe. However, this step has not yet been decided.
Who is developing TERA Frontier? The game is being developed by the studio Red Sahara, of which not much has been heard in this country so far. They were acquired by Bluehole and are now part of the new “KRAFTON” project – essentially a new name for Bluehole and the associated developer studios.
Are you looking forward to a mobile TERA? Or do you believe that MMORPGs have no place on a smartphone?
