After 19 years, it’s over for the Xbox 360, at least for the console’s digital shop. It will go offline on July 29. With it, 59 games will disappear, probably forever.
What happens on July 29? On Monday, July 29, 2024, the digital shop for the Xbox 360 will shut down. From that day on, players will no longer be able to purchase titles digitally through the platform.
The Xbox 360 was released in 2005 just in time for the Christmas season in December and has since competed with the Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. With its launch, Microsoft also ventured into gesture control through the Kinect system. But if you like the Kinect system, you should hurry now.

South Park and many Kinect games will disappear
Which games are affected? Most of the games that were released on the Xbox 360 have since become available on newer consoles. Even if the titles are not available there, they often come on CDs, so you can still buy them after the digital shop shuts down.
However, 59 games have neither a physical version nor are they available on newer consoles. The only way to play them after July 29 is to buy them now. The games will still be downloadable after that date, but you won’t be able to purchase them again.

What should Xbox 360 fans do now? All purchased games can still be downloaded. Also, “Xbox 360” games on newer consoles like the Xbox One X|S or the Xbox Series X|S will remain after shutdown, and you can still purchase them.
