The production company of Johnny Depp will co-produce a TV series based on the MMORPG Secret World Legends.
As reported by Deadline, Johnny Depp’s company “Infinitum Nihil” has joined forces with others to produce the television series “The Secret World”. A TV series based on the recently rebooted MMORPG Secret World Legends.
The showrunner will be Pam Veasy – who previously worked on CSI: New York. While individual episodes of a series may feature different writers and directors, the showrunner brings all the threads of a TV series together.
Secret World – a fight in the shadows
The TV series will revolve around a team of undercover agents and the struggle between the three secret organizations: Templars, Dragons, and Illuminati.
It’s about the fight against the supernatural: The agents will confront ancient myths and legends, but also modern theories and events. The Secret World is supposed to span the entire globe.
Conspiracy theories will especially be the focus of the series. After all, The Secret World is about the people who control the people who control the world.
Conspiracy theories in focus – “Game of Thrones” as a model?
It seems that producer Gudrun Giddings from the company G4C Innovation is the driving force behind the production. She secured the rights back in 2012 and believes: The Secret World is a game driven by the characters and is therefore well-suited to become a TV series that is broadcast worldwide and can be binge-watched.
Since Giddings used the term “binge”, one can speculate that the series will tell a cohesive, ongoing story – like newer TV series such as Game of Thrones and will not be a so-called procedural, a TV series with self-contained episodes.
It is not yet known which actors will appear in The Secret World.
