Much has been speculated about the release of Google Stadia, but now the time has come. After the price and games, the release date of Google Stadia is finally known. We tell you when you can start streaming.
When is Google Stadia coming out? All owners of a Stadia Founder’s Edition or the Premier Edition can start game streaming from November 19, 2019 at 6 PM. Then Google Stadia will officially launch. Thus, the time for the launch of Google Stadia is already set.
Here’s where the information comes from: Previously, we knew that Google intended to release its streaming service in November. However, a release date was not known. Now Google has announced a date on its YouTube channel. We have embedded the video for you:
Important to know: Every player who has ordered either edition will receive an access code to their registered email address, with which they can sign up for a 3-month trial subscription for Stadia Pro. To complete the registration, a valid payment method with Google is required.
What does Google Stadia offer at launch? Google Stadia is not Netflix for gamers. Currently, only Destiny 2 is known as a free game on Google Stadia. However, there are already some announced games for Stadia that can be purchased separately. Once purchased, games can always be played via Stadia, even when the Pro subscription expires.
Cross-play with other platforms is not yet supported as it stands. For example, in Destiny 2 it will not be possible to synchronize the save file between Steam and Stadia. Stadia is a separate ecosystem.
What about Stadia Base? The free version “Google Base” will only be available starting next year. Then you can play purchased games without a subscription – but at a maximum resolution of 1080p.

This is Google Stadia
This is how Google Stadia works: Google Stadia is a cloud-based gaming service from Google. If you want to play a game via Stadia, you no longer need to download the game. The game runs directly from Google’s data center. This technology offers many possibilities for the future:
Is my internet sufficient for Google Stadia? If you have a fast internet connection and own Stadia Pro, you can play games in up to 4K and 60 FPS. Google itself offers a Speedtest for Stadia. This speed test shows the approximate quality with which you can play games via Stadia.
Google even promises that the latencies – a concern for many multiplayer players – will be lower in the next 2 years than with a conventional PC or console. Yes, Google Stadia should be able to respond faster to inputs and keep lag lower.
First test of Google Stadia: Our author Jürgen also got to try Google Stadia at Gamescom. You can read how he felt and what his concerns are in the first practical test of Google Stadia from Gamescom 2019.
Founder’s Edition and Premiere Edition
The Google Stadia Founder’s Edition is now sold out. However, you can still order the Premiere Edition for 129 euros in the Google Shop. It includes, among other things, a Chromecast Ultra and 3 months of Stadia Pro, which we highlight here: Is the pre-order of Google Stadia worth it?
