If Bungie can’t get it right, then the community of Destiny 2 will do it themselves. A community site is taking action against cheaters in the Trials of the Nine and in PvP.
We reported on Mein MMO about a month ago: Not everything is as it should be in the Trials of the Nine. Some are said to have “cheated” their way to “Flawless” without ever really competing in a match.
Due to some DDOS tricks, it seems possible for the opposing team to experience a “connection incident.” The cheaters are declared winners without a fight.
The news caused an uproar among “honest players,” but there was no direct response from Bungie.
Because even though Bungie banned players from Destiny 2 – the reactions to such “cheater allegations in PvP” have come with significant delays in the past.
From time to time, there are “play nice” warnings from Bungie, but such a cheater ban wave has yet to occur in Destiny 2.
Those who cheat will be banned – at least from the most important community leaderboards
Now the community site Destiny Tracker has taken over. As announced on reddit, 650 players were removed from the “ELO Leaderboards.” They will no longer appear in the leaderboards that are maintained there. This ban wave targets cheaters who used DDOS.
To find these individuals, they look for patterns – among the 650, it was noticeable that something was off.
Destiny Tracker has leaderboards for everything – cheaters are no longer listed there. No matter what they do in the future: It will not be reflected in the ELO lists, and the banned will no longer be ranked.
In the future, they will continue to scour the leaderboards for irregularities.
Destiny Tracker says: We know that not every cheater does this just to be at the top of our leaderboard, but we don’t care. We only want those who have made it to the top honestly in our leaderboards.
This action by Destiny Tracker is well received by the community.
