What do Far Cry 4, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and recently World of Warcraft have in common? Besides the fact that they are video games, all three are also connected through actress and singer Janina Gavankar. She has her fingers in all sorts of pies – and has a lot to say about The Last Jedi.
Janina Gavankar is one of those women whose interests aren’t immediately apparent. “A gamer can’t look like that,” they say, after all, beautiful women go to nail salons and not to the controller. Such and similar statements are still heard again and again in 2017.
Outside nice, inside too
Her face is at least recognizable and perhaps it has already caught the attention of some of you in series like True Blood or Sleepy Hollow. However, it stands out in Battlefront 2: She plays Iden Versio, Commander of the Inferno Squad and the main character of the single-player campaign. For many, Gavankar’s portrayal of the rigorous soldier is one of the highlights of the much-criticized game.
The good thing about it is: Gavankar is not only a pretty and serious actress but also a true geek who still can’t believe she gets to participate in a franchise she loves, like Star Wars. She is someone who can isolate herself at home for days to play video games. And she has also opened a forum for game developers and is knowledgeable in that regard.

For Iden, she wished for more, as the cutscenes were overall only short and did not delve deeply into the character. Perhaps she will have the opportunity to do so in future collaborations.
Now the free “Last Jedi” DLC has also been released, which not only adds the two playable heroes Finn and Phasma, but also brings fresh single-player content. By the way, Gavankar recommends to play it before watching the movie. And don’t worry: The DLC does not contain any spoilers.

The DLC makes you crave for more!
In an interview with VentureBeat, she expresses her excitement about the symbiosis that film and game have. The plot of Battlefront 2 seamlessly integrates into the universe, and she is amazed that Disney allowed so much freedom in this.
“In the DLC, there are so many references to the film. It will blow you away! (…) You will see things… – I can’t tell you exactly what. Things that you will never see in the movie but will experience for the first time in the game,” Janina Gavankar
After all, the DLC also shows elements of the First Order. Lucasfilms was very keen on keeping the plot authentic and consistent. The fact that film and game are so interconnected definitely makes you want to play the free DLC!

Besides Battlefront, she is currently also dancing at Blizzard’s weddings. In the live-action trailer for Hearthstone’s expansion “Knights of the Frozen Throne”, she can be seen alongside cute goblins. The woman has an enviable schedule with interesting jobs!
