The satirist Jan Böhmermann (41) again takes on the German influencer scene. In his streamer persona, which is closely related to the Twitch star Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris (34), Böhmermann posted a video on the YouTube channel of ZDF Magazin Royale.
What kind of video is it? In the YouTube video, which appeared on December 8 on the official channel of ZDF Magazin Royale, Jan Böhmermann can again be seen in a black tank top and with a gold chain. The background also strongly resembles MontanaBlack’s streaming setup.
In this way, Jan Böhmermann has already addressed topics such as microtransactions in video games. The parody is not explicitly aimed at MontanaBlack but at all streamers with this kind of content.
Jan Böhmermann as a Reaction Streamer
What is it about this time? In his latest video, Böhmermann parodies reaction streams. Streamers react to the content of other creators or watch series to make more or less original comments.
Jan Böhmermann chose the ZDF show “Bares für Rares” for his video. Equipped with a box of “Froot Loops” cereal, which he conspicuously eats into the microphone, and an energy drink, Böhmermann watches as a diamond-studded cross is appraised and then sold on the flea market show.
Meanwhile, the supposed streamer receives donations from his alleged viewers that far exceed the value of the displayed treasure. Böhmermann boasts that he could buy “five of those things.”
In the design surrounding the video, those responsible for Böhmermann also orient themselves to common clichés: The title of the video is filled with emojis, and some words are apparently arbitrarily capitalized.
In the description of the video, the supposed streamer apologizes for his long absence, citing issues with the tax authorities. In the future, however, he wants to stream more regularly. Similar announcements – minus the tax part – can often be found on the social media channels of real streamers.
Is ZDF dealing with Twitch streamers today?
What does this mean now? When Böhmermann last teased his streaming persona on Instagram in September 2022, an episode of his Magazin Royale followed, in which he dealt extensively with the topic of microtransactions in video games and the streamers who promote them.
One can therefore assume that today’s episode of the satire program will again settle accounts with the German influencer scene. The content may revolve around reaction content or the earnings of Twitch streamers, especially in terms of donations.
ZDF Magazin Royale is broadcast every Friday at 11:00 PM on ZDF but is already available in the media library of the broadcaster from 8:00 PM.
What are Reactions all about? This kind of content, where influencers react to each other, is very popular and has practically given rise to its own genre of YouTube videos: compilations of content from bigger names on YouTube and Twitch, which are then reacted to again by streamers and YouTubers.
Reactions to reactions are also not uncommon. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the last episode of Magazin Royale, which dealt with streamers, sparked numerous reactions.
