The actor Jack Black, who takes on the role of the video game villain Bowser in the new Mario movie, is himself a big gaming fan and shares what game he would like to see as a film.
Jack Black is not only playing one of the most well-known video game characters ever, but he is also a passionate gamer himself.
The actor even has his own gaming channel on YouTube called “JablinksiGames” with around 4.8 million subscribers (via YouTube, as of: April 6, 2023).
In an interview with the BBC, the actor stated that he is a big fan of video game adaptations as long as they are executed properly. He cites a specific example where he believes this has been successful.

“The Last of Us was fantastic. And the crazy thing is how faithful they [the series] are to the original source. It’s basically all from the game, just with a few changes. It will win all the awards. They used the video game almost like a storyboard and I thought: ‘Wow, that looks just like it’.”
The actor also sees great potential in other games that could be turned into films or series. Jack Black mentions a very well-known game that he believes is particularly suitable for this:
“And there are some great games that haven’t been addressed on television or in film yet. Maybe there will be a film about Red Dead Redemption? There should be because I think it has just as good or even a better story than The Last of Us.”
