Naoki Yoshida, the lead producer of Final Fantasy XIV, visited the Japan Expo in Paris. There, he shared some details about the upcoming content of the MMORPG. Players can particularly look forward to one endgame content.
What content can we look forward to? The field operations Eureka and Bozja were introduced with the expansions Stormblood and Shadowbringers. These are very special contents:
- Several players can come together on a larger map, up to 144.
- On this map, certain quests must be completed that are story-related.
- The quests have no connection to the main story.
- Eureka and Bozja are linked to the relic weapons, the most powerful weapons of each class.
The frontline operations mean a lot of grind, as special equipment and the mentioned relic weapons are at stake. Unfortunately, the last expansion, Endwalker, did not include such content. However, Yoshida reveals that the current Dawntrail DLC will come again with a field operation.

Final Fantasy XIV gets new field operation, but it takes time
What else did Yoshida reveal? Square Enix is said to have used the time after the last field operation to combine the best elements from Eureka and Bozja. Additionally, the team wanted to filter out what did not work as well.
The new field operation is said to have two goals: Firstly, the new map should be interesting enough for exploration. Secondly, the missions should encourage player collaboration to achieve specific objectives.
The planning phase for the new field operation is almost complete. Production is in full swing. The team expects a major project that would excite the players.
When will the content come? The new field operation is not expected to arrive until Patch 7.2. According to esports.net, the patch is expected to be released in March 2025. Therefore, it may take some time before players can come together on the maps again.
However, there is expected to be a Patch 7.1 before Patch 7.2. This patch is planned to have adjustments to PvP commands and arenas.
