A developer’s statement now gives fans hope that there will also be an Open Beta of The Division 2. What’s the truth?
This morning, the Private Beta of The Division 2 already ended. However, not all interested parties were able to get a personal impression of the upcoming shared-world shooter in post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. However, that could change soon.
This is the current official status: Officially, only two Betas for The Division 2 have been planned so far:
- The Private Beta. Only pre-order customers of the game and a few selected testers who were additionally invited had access.
- The Closed Beta. This testing phase is supposed to take place before the launch. It is aimed at players who sign up on the official site and will be selected with some luck.
An open beta, where everyone can try the game, has not been planned so far.
That’s why fans believe in an Open Beta: There is still no official announcement or statement regarding a potential Open Beta. However, from a developer’s statement, it can be concluded that an open testing phase is still very much in mind.
Last weekend, the Live Content Manager of The Division 2, Yannick Banchereau, reportedly inadvertently confirmed during a live stream about the Private Beta that there will be an Open Beta.
During the discussion about a bug in a certain feature, Banchereau mentioned that this would be fixed for the Open Beta. We have embedded the Twitch clip with his statement below:
Thus, every interested player could test The Division 2 before the launch on March 15, 2019 and form their own impression of the game. However, there is no possible date yet.
However, please note: This is not an official announcement, even if the statement comes from a Massive employee. You should therefore treat the news with a corresponding degree of caution until official details are available. By the way, there has not yet been a denial.
