One of the founders of Blizzard, Allen Adham, says in an informal interview that they tried to complete news for Diablo 4 or a game of the main Diablo line. This leads to new speculations.
What exactly does Allen Adham say? In an interview with GameDaily.biz, one of the Blizzard founders, Allen Adham, commented on Diablo. However, this was still during the informal part of the interview.
The interviewer regretted that there was no announcement for a main Diablo game.
Blizzard founder Allen Adham then said: “We tried.”
Without a demo of Diablo 4, no announcement?
What does that mean? Adham did not elaborate further on this statement. However, the interviewer deduces that there was likely a last-minute delay of a demo version of Diablo 4 or another main Diablo game.
The reasoning behind this is that Blizzard usually only presents new things at BlizzCon that are already playable on the convention floor. This was the case with Overwatch at BlizzCon 2015, where attendees could already play 12 of the 21 launch heroes of Overwatch.
Therefore, Daily.biz believes that the demo version of Diablo 4 might have been delayed, and that is why there wasn’t an announcement: Without something playable at the convention, Blizzard did not want to present anything.
Instead of cheers for Diablo, there was a scandal at BlizzCon 2018 when Blizzard introduced the mobile game “Diablo Immortal”. The BlizzCon attendees were largely disappointed by the announcement.
Daily.biz believes, however, that it can’t be long now until information about Diablo 4 comes out. This also fits with Blizzard’s statement: “Good things take time, but bad things often take a little longer.” (via Blizzard)
These hints were also given: The site Kotaku reported shortly after the Diablo Immortal debacle that Blizzard had filmed a video with Allen Adham about Diablo 4. This was supposed to be shown at BlizzCon and announce Diablo 4. The video was reportedly supposed to come after the presentation of Diablo Immortal.
Allegedly, Diablo 4 has been in the works for years but has undergone some directional changes.
This was reported to Kotaku by two sources.
Blizzard denied this: There was no video planned for BlizzCon that was not shown.
Where do we stand now? Adham’s statement, “We tried” now suggests again that Blizzard indeed had another Diablo news in mind for BlizzCon than what actually occurred. At least at some point, Blizzard might have planned differently.
However, it seems clear that even before BlizzCon it was known that they would not succeed, even though they were working hard on it.
