The large purple cube in Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4, iOS, Android, Switch & Xbox One) has been rolling across the map for weeks. At certain points, it leaves runes. But what happens when you connect them?
What is behind the runes? An author from Forbes took the effort to connect the current rune points from the cube. If you only connect the first four points, a slanted square is formed.
If you draw a line straight up from the western corner and assume that the remaining three points have a similar counterpart, a three-dimensional object in the shape of a cube emerges!

In fact, there are a total of eight symbols that the cube shows on its surface. Five of them it has already left as runes on the ground. So it is quite possible that there will be a total of eight glyphs on the map, and they will ultimately simply show a cube.
Is Epic just trolling us in the end?
Should the cube just happily roll over the map and paint a picture of itself? Then all the carefully crafted theories and speculations would be worthless.
Because so far the most common theory states that the cube will plunge into Loot Lake at the end, turning it into a lava lake. Various datamining finds supposedly support this.
An even more outlandish theory from the troll forum 4Chan even claims that the cube:
- Creates a dark alternative dimension
- Aliens build a city in Loot Lake
- A chicken restaurant appears near the bunker in the woods
- Lonely Lodge becomes an amusement park.
This theory would also have Epic casually flipping the middle finger if the cube merely painted a picture of itself.
Does the cube roll to the center and destroy everything?
At Forbes, they are also not in agreement about what the cube is doing. Interestingly, the cube ends up almost in the center of the island. What does it do there? Does it simply evaporate?
Does the cube change everything after all? Or does the cube explode and truly change the entire map this time, instead of always just small parts, as in past events? After all, many players in Season 6 are demanding something completely new and not just small changes.
We will likely only know more once Season 5 ends soon.
