The first happy pre-order customers were able to secure the new console Xbox Series X. However, it seems that some customers grabbed the wrong console, as the sales figures of the predecessor Xbox One X also shot up.
This has now been found: On Twitter, the user “Andrew Alerts” shared an interesting discovery. The sales rank of the Xbox One X has increased by 747% on Amazon USA. Previously, the console was ranked 2804 and now lands at rank 331.
So even though all fans want the new Xbox Series X, some customers seem to have also wrapped up the “old” console. It seems that they simply confused the consoles. This is not surprising, as Microsoft itself has also made this mistake.

How should the numbers be interpreted? The 747% does not refer to the increasing sales figures, but to the sales rank that the console has climbed on Amazon.
The Xbox One X does not necessarily have to have sold 747% more.
In general, the number of sales does not have to have increased dramatically, as the Xbox One X is probably no longer a huge seller about 3 years after release. Additionally, many platforms no longer offer the console, and you can usually only obtain it through third-party sellers.
Nonetheless, it must be said that some customers have probably grabbed more of the Xbox One X. There’s a reason the console’s rank has increased.
What is also interesting is that this phenomenon only exists with the Xbox One X and not with the S model. Sales trends there did not really increase.
Is this also the case in Germany? At least now, as of September 23 at 11:00 AM, the Xbox One X is not in the sales trends on Amazon Germany. It is also no longer trending on Amazon USA. By the way, American Amazon had problems with the PS5 pre-orders as well.
However, it may well be that it looked different yesterday, as the hype for the pre-orders of the new console Xbox Series X was considerable.
How can this happen? Of course, one should first assume that the purchases of the “old” Xbox were intentional. Maybe it was not a mix-up at all and customers actually wanted to buy the Xbox One X.
Otherwise, this can be explained by the very similar names. The new console Xbox Series X and the old console Xbox One X differ by just one word.
If you are in a pre-order rush and just want to quickly purchase the new console, it could easily lead to a mix-up.
This has happened to Microsoft itself: The developers of the Xbox series have already proven that the names are not that easy.
In a message about the release of Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Microsoft writes that the DLC will be available on the Xbox One Series X. A console name that does not even exist yet.
What should I do in case of a wrong order? If you have fallen into the trap and ordered the wrong Xbox, you can usually return it for free.
