As clever data miners have now discovered, the Guardians will return to the Destiny 2 Cosmodrome – and probably very soon.
Destiny veterans will remember well – the journey of their Guardians began once in the Cosmodrome – a spaceport in Old Russia. As the analysis of data from the recent Update 2.0.4 now suggests, the Guardians will likely return one last time to the place where their path to legend began.

The mysterious festival quest seems to lead back to Old Russia
A mysterious quest awaits the Guardians: The Festival of the Lost is currently in full swing. But as Bungie has already announced, a special quest awaits the Guardians at the end of these festivities. Starting October 30, the focus will be on solving a mysterious murder case surrounding the former Reef Cryptarch Master Ives.
This is why fans believe it will go back to the Cosmodrome: Recently, data miners stumbled upon new audio files that were added to the game with Update 2.0.4, which also brought the Festival of the Lost into the game. The audio files contain voice lines from Amanda Holiday, the main point of contact for the Halloween event.
And what can be heard there clearly speaks for a return of the Guardians to the Cosmodrome. For example, she says – obviously to your Guardian: “This is where your Ghost found you, right?”. Later she continues: “This could be the last time you set foot in the Cosmodrome.”

This riddle surrounding the murder case is probably the last thing that is not yet known about the festival – no further secrets have been announced. Since the audio files came into the game along with the festival data and originate directly from the festival point of contact, the Guardians are convinced that they belong to the festival quest that awaits the fans at the end.
What could await the Guardians in Old Russia? So far, not much is really known. Bungie did say that the second year would not bring new planets for Destiny 2. However, there could be closed location bubbles that could take place in already known locations. And neither the Cosmodrome nor Old Russia inherently embody a new planet or location.
Whether Bungie will actually bring back the entire Cosmodrome or even the Plaguelands of Old Russia just for a seasonal event remains doubtful. A location bubble in which the hunt for the Cryptarch murderer takes place is therefore the more likely option.
What could be the reward? Here too, the hints increasingly point to a popular weapon from Destiny 1. The exotic machine gun Thunderlord could be the reward for solving the murder case. The Cosmodrome would also serve perfectly as a location – because that is exactly where the weapon was first introduced to the public.
