An additional leak has revealed hero 32 for Overwatch . This is an “old acquaintance” that players have been waiting for a year.
Shortly before BlizzCon 2019, leaks and theories about upcoming content for Blizzard’s games are piling up. For Overwatch fans, there’s a reason to celebrate, as a long-awaited hero could appear soon. It was indirectly announced a year ago.
Which hero is it about? We are talking about Echo. Echo is an Omnic who first appeared in the Cinematic “Old Acquaintance”, which primarily focused on McCree and Ashe. Many players had hoped that the cinematic would announce Echo, but instead, Ashe with her companion Bob was unleashed on the players. That could change in just a few days.
Who is Echo? Many details about Echo are still unknown. It is clear that McCree and Echo apparently have a past, as McCree helps her out of captivity and gently takes the hand of the Omnic to hand her over to Overwatch.
Some theories suggest that “Echo” is the virtual personality of a human bound to an Omnic that McCree was close to, as McCree refers to her in the cinematic as “Partner”. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
What can Echo do? To Echo’s abilities, not much is known yet. It is also completely uncertain whether Echo is a tank, support, or damage dealer.
Please keep in mind with this information that it so far only concerns unconfirmed leaks. Whether they hold true remains to be seen.
In a few days, we will likely know more, as BlizzCon 2019 will take place then and should bring many new information.
