The Whisper of the Worm is a powerful sniper in Destiny 2, but its quest is only active on weekends. Soon, players may have even more opportunities to get their hands on the popular weapon.
What is it about? In the Destiny 2 subreddit, a Guardian expressed the desire for more opportunities to obtain the exotic sniper rifle, Whisper of the Worm.
The player suggested that, similar to the weekly challenges in the Shattered Realm, access to the portal for the quest on Io could be available using Queen’s Foil tincture from the Dreaming City. Another suggestion was that players could open the quest portal anytime if they have already unlocked it.
The post received many comments and support from other Guardians. This prompted Community Manager Cozmo to hint at possible changes to the quest.

What could this mean? The mention of the Drifter, who is typically responsible for Gambit, could just be a nice integration of the lore. On the other hand, it might also hint at a possible timeline for upcoming changes: After the Season of the Forge, in which we currently are, the Season of the Drifter is supposed to follow. Perhaps the Drifter will have completed his tinkering by then, and players will have more chances to access the quest for Whisper of the Worm.
The schedule of the Seasons has been confirmed again by Bungie.
How does the quest proceed? Currently, the quest for the Whisper of the Worm is only active from Friday 7 PM to Monday 7 PM each week. Players need to hope for a public event with Taken at a specific location on Io and defeat a certain enemy to open a portal.
