In Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4, iOS, Switch & Xbox One) is with update 4.5 an option appeared, with which you can receive gifts. A feature will likely come soon that allows you to gift skins to your friends.
Do you want to receive a gift? Update 4.5 of Fortnite brought a lot of new features to Fortnite. However, one has hardly been noticed so far. In the menu, you can now set whether you want to receive gifts.
A corresponding gifting feature is not yet in the game. But it might come soon.
Soon it will be Christmas!
Where is the gift option? The new option to receive gifts is hidden in the account menu.
- Click on the three bars at the top right of the screen
- Then select the gear icon
- You are now in the menu. Go to the last tab on the far right. There you will find the option that allows or prevents gifts to you.
How can I distribute gifts? Unfortunately, the option to receive gifts is currently the only one available in the game. You cannot give anything away yet. Epic is likely to provide the corresponding feature soon.
What could the gift feature look like?
There are various theories about gifts: How exactly gifting and being gifted in Fortnite will work has not yet been revealed by Epic. So far, there is only the mysterious option in the menu. However, the following variations are conceivable:
- You can gift all skins from your inventory. While this would be great in itself, it would open the door to all sorts of unscrupulous dealings with rare skins. Epic probably wouldn’t want to support this.
- You can indicate when buying a new skin that you are purchasing the skin as a gift for a friend. This is said to be the more likely approach to the matter according to many players.
Are you already looking forward to the gift option in Fortnite? Or would you never gift virtual real-money items to other players?
