To be honest: If, as a WoW player, you have not yet heard of Final Fantasy XIV, you are probably living under a rock. After all, many content creators and WoW players switched temporarily or permanently to Final Fantasy XIV during the “Shadowlands drought”.
If you haven’t yet taken the plunge into Final Fantasy XIV, now is the time to seize the opportunity. Since its complete reboot a few years ago, FFXIV has maintained solid traction and is constantly being developed further.
New content patches reliably arrive every few months. These include new dungeons and raids, but also quests that continuously tell a long, cohesive storyline. The current expansion Dawntrail serves as the starting point for a new storyline that is to be told over the coming years.
The special thing: In Final Fantasy XIV, you only need one character, as this character can learn almost all classes (jobs) available in the game. If you invest a lot of time, you can therefore take on any role in a group with a single hero and switch as needed.

Who Final Fantasy XIV is particularly suited for: Those who had a penchant for the FF series should definitely check it out. FFXIV excels with a great story and a somewhat cozy combat system that starts slowly and speeds up significantly at max level.
However, many contents require groups, without which you cannot even complete the main story. So if you enjoy cooperating with other players, you’ll find it in FFXIV. Additionally, FFXIV is known for its friendly community, which gladly welcomes newcomers and helps them navigate the new world.

What Cortyn thinks of Final Fantasy XIV: Final Fantasy XIV certainly requires some time to get used to. The typical Asian design may seem a bit strange to WoW veterans at first, but quickly develops the charm of popular JRPGs. Even though WoW and FF XIV are often seen as opposing parties – especially by players of each game – these MMORPGs can wonderfully coexist and cater to different play styles and preferences.
