Since the last update, there is a weapon in the game that strikes fear into the architects in Fortnite: Battle Royale. The minigun cuts through fortifications like a hot knife through butter. Is the weapon too strong?
The minigun has been in the game since the last major update and can be found in epic and legendary quality. Although the rarity suggests that the weapon is found very sparingly, it is surprisingly common in the game world.
The minigun has now established itself as THE weapon to destroy enemy fortifications. As the minigun also uses small ammunition that is used rarely, a considerable ammunition stock can be built up.

But what makes the minigun so strong? We played a few rounds with the “Rambo weapon”.
The Minigun – the Nightmare of Architects
Despite its size, the minigun is categorized among the small weapons and uses light ammunition – similar to pistols and submachine guns. Before you can shoot it, you must charge the weapon for a few seconds; you cannot start firing immediately.
Once the weapon is charged, you can shoot at enemy structures for minutes, assuming you have the necessary ammunition supply. Because the minigun does not need to be reloaded. Only when you have fired all your rounds must you switch to another weapon.

Since weapons in Fortnite (yet) have no damage drop-off over distance, you can shoot at fortifications from a safe distance and easily reduce them to rubble. If you also fire from cover, the “inhabitants” of the structure are helplessly at the mercy of the hail of bullets.
Once the fort is down, you can keep the enemies at bay with suppressive fire and stifle any attempt to place another base. The enemies have no choice but to flee.
The “Disadvantages” of the Minigun
The minigun is not particularly well-suited for directly attacking enemy players, as the weapon tends to strafe too much. However, enemies can be excellently processed up close. 16 damage for a body shot and up to 40 damage for critical hits speak volumes.
For quick, intensive fights, the minigun is also not suitable, as the weapon must first be charged. However, when it comes to destroying structures, the minigun is unbeatable. Will Epic have to react here to break the dominance?

Robert says: Nearly unlimited ammunition reserves, devastating damage against fortifications, and suppressive fire on enemy players – the minigun is a monster. Its strengths are especially pronounced in duo and team modes. While one player with their minigun attacks the enemy fort, the teammates can take care of the enemies themselves.
It is therefore perfect for diversion maneuvers. As there is no damage drop-off over distance, even distant fortifications can be effectively destroyed. This makes the minigun outclass even grenades and rocket launchers.
Even if I am not a fan of nerfs – the minigun needs to be adjusted. For reasons of balance, a magazine should be introduced that can at least limit the continuous fire so that the weapon must be reloaded after a certain time.
One thing is certain: The minigun is currently a lot of fun! So make use of it extensively, who knows how long the weapon will be available in its current form!
