PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has so far made PC players happy and continues to set new records. However, the battle royale game is expected to be released at least on the Xbox One console. If everything goes well, it could even be released in 2017. A release on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) is also on the radar for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the lively battle royale game by Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, is currently providing countless satisfied players on PC and is a huge success for Bluehole Studios. However, so far only PC players are enjoying the brutal survival fight. Console players have been left out, but not for much longer.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: Team already working on Xbox One port
Console players can be excited, because according to Brendan Greene, a team at Bluehole is already working on a port for the Xbox One and PS4. Since the PC version is still in Early Access but is expected to be released in the next five months, a console port might be ready by the end of 2017 for either or both consoles.
A team is currently working on porting it to at least the Xbox One. The PS4 is also in their sights. However, they do not have a specific timeframe for either port. According to Greene, a console port of the game is “not hard.”
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: No concrete release date for PS4 and Xbox One yet
The Unreal Engine 4 used is ideal for multiplatform versions of a game. Therefore, according to Brendan Greene, the porting to consoles would be quite easy.
Bluehole has a large and capable team that can handle both the PC version and console ports.
Unfortunately, Greene could not disclose a concrete date or whether the versions for Xbox One or PS4 would be released simultaneously or at different times. One can only hope that the developers will complete the PC version quickly to ensure as smooth a porting process to the consoles as possible.
