In Pokémon GO, a long-lost Pokémon from Generation 3 may soon appear. At least, trainers have found a small hint that could point to the release of Kecleon.
Here’s what it’s about: Pokémon GO has announced Friendship Day and, fittingly, released an image featuring Pokémon that will appear there. This image is currently under discussion, as some trainers recognize a Kecleon – a creature that has never appeared in Pokémon GO before.
The hint is small and not recognized by every trainer as evidence for Kecleon, yet it still sparks discussions. It mainly shows that players are eager to finally catch Kecleon.
Is that a tree or Kecleon?
This is the hint: We are including the image section for Friendship Day here. Kecleon is supposed to be camouflaged behind Tangela in the tree:
One needs a bit of imagination, but the tree behind Tangela somewhat resembles the head of Kecleon. Especially the eye of the Pokémon could be seen there.
Why does this fit Kecleon? This Pokémon is special because it can camouflage itself. This allows it to merge with the background – only its red stripe on its belly is always visible during camouflage.
In this picture, Kecleon could have camouflaged itself as a tree, and we only recognize the rough outlines of the creature. The red stripe would disappear behind Tangela.
What speaks against it? Unfortunately quite a lot. On reddit, a user shared the original image (via reddit), which Niantic has only enhanced with Pokémon. This dark spot on the tree was also found there, even though there were no Pokémon in the picture.
It seems to be an unfortunate coincidence, and it is not Kecleon that we may recognize in the background. However, one can also be mistaken here, and Niantic may have intentionally chosen this image.
This shows the speculation: The discussion surrounding Kecleon is large. After all, the first Pokémon from Generation 3 arrived in the game as early as the end of 2017. The only one missing now is Kecleon, so no player’s PokéDex is complete.
People are clutching at straws when it comes to Kecleon’s release and are anticipating a suitable event at any time. It remains exciting around the Pokémon. Perhaps it will happen on Friendship Day, April 24.
Another event brings a new Shiny into the game that can only be caught in a special way:
