The MMORPG Lost Ark is still not available in the West. It is possible to play the game here in Germany, but it brings difficulties.
How can I play Lost Ark in Germany? To be able to play the new MMORPG Lost Ark here in Germany, fans must first overcome the IP block of the developers and publishers. Those who want to play the latest content on Korean servers need a verified account linked to Korean IDs and phone numbers.
Meanwhile, Lost Ark has also been released in Russia. There it is much easier to create an account and play than in Korea.

Can I play a Korean account in Germany? For Europeans and Americans, there are two options:
- You either need good friends in Korea who create the account there.
- You have to buy a ready-made account.
However, with the second option, there is the problem that purchasing such an account in Korea is actually an illegal matter. Since the accounts are linked to phone numbers and ID cards, it is essentially identity fraud.
If you really want to play the Korean version with the latest updates and content, you have to shell out some money.
After the hype around Lost Ark has subsided, the prices for Korean accounts have also gone down again. While they were around €30 – €40 at the peak of the MMORPG, you can now get a verified account for about €15.
However, there is no guarantee that the purchased account will not be banned, and in that case, you will not get your money back. Furthermore, VPN services are also required to bypass the IP block, which incurs additional costs.
If you really want to try Lost Ark, you are better off with Russian accounts, even if the Russian version of the game is several patches behind the Korean one.
Is there still anything going on with Lost Ark? While the launch of the MMORPG in Korea was accompanied by a lot of hype, it has become relatively quiet around the game, partly due to the lack of West release.
However, the developer Smilegate continues to pump out new content for their game. Lost Ark received in 2019:
- New class Lance Master
- New class Assassin with two subclasses
- Several new continents
- Many balance changes
- New story episodes
- New dungeons, etc.
At times, there were also rumors that Smilegate was working on a mobile version of Lost Ark. These were based on the fact that the studio was looking for new developers with experience in this field.

Why does the developer block foreign players? The aim of the blocks and bans in Lost Ark in Korea is not specifically the western players. The problem is more the Chinese botters who flood MMO games, sell currency, and steal other players’ accounts. Normally, when an account in an MMO game is banned, botters simply create a new one using a different email address. This is not so easy in Lost Ark.
Exact reasons for the IP block in the Russian region have not been disclosed by the publisher Mail.ru. It was only said that this was done in coordination with the developer Smilegate.
Will Lost Ark come to Europe as well? Smilegate stated at a conference that they are working to bring Lost Ark to the West. However, Smilegate did not disclose when exactly this will happen. The CEO of the company only said that the MMORPG is to come to us in a “mature” and “refined state”.
