MMOs on consoles were relatively rare a few years ago. However, more and more publishers are choosing to port their online games to the current console generation after the PC release. A port of Guild Wars 2 to PS4 and Xbox One would be appealing.
Many action-packed MMOs are taking the leap to consoles. While they may have been playable on PC for several years, games like Tera, The Elder Scrolls Online, or Neverwinter are experiencing a renaissance on PS4 and Xbox One. With Blade and Soul and Black Desert, two more MMORPGs are set to launch on the PS4 and Xbox One.
For Tera, it was said that the time is now ripe for a console port, as PS4 and Xbox One are designed for online gaming.
Guild Wars 2 for PS4 and Xbox One?
Since 2013, there has been a recurring desire to port Guild Wars 2 to the then-current console generation (Xbox 360 and PS3). ArenaNet stated in 2013 that this was not possible because content patches would be too expensive on consoles and they wanted to focus on PC first.

However, because other MMOs are running so successfully on consoles, many fans are wondering what the prospects are for a porting of Guild Wars 2 for PS4 and Xbox One?
First only on PC
In an interview at PAX East 2018, conducted by Massively Overpowered with Game Director Mike Zadorojny, he commented on a potential console port.
According to the Game Director, a port of Guild Wars 2 is currently not something the team is working on. He adds, however, that this does not mean that Guild Wars 2 will never receive a port. Right now, other things are simply more important.
New classes are also not currently a focus; the elite specializations are.
The expansion Path of Fire has been out for half a year now, and Guild Wars 2 offers a lot of content. However, there are 5 features that Guild Wars 2 still needs after Path of Fire.
