The release of GTA 6 is a big topic among fans. Just recently, there was a setback when a report spoke of the alleged state of developments. An insider now says that the development is much further along.
This is the situation: On April 15, the US magazine Kotaku published an article about Rockstar Games. The author Jason Schreier is known for relying on sources within major game studios to gather information.
In the article, he explains that Rockstar’s next title is a new installment in the “Grand Theft Auto” series but is still in “early development.” Additionally, GTA 6 is expected to be smaller at launch than thought.
A known Rockstar insider has now responded that, according to his information, GTA 6 is already much further along.
What does the insider say about the development of GTA 6?
This is how far along the development is: On Twitter and in the GTAForums, the Rockstar insider Tez2 explains that GTA 6 is already much more advanced. The state of early development is “hard to believe when I’m told that the game is already halfway done or further,” he writes on Twitter.
In the GTAForums, he elaborates on his info:
I will not doubt Jason. I’m sure he has contacts, knows some people in the industry (including Rockstar), he is the type of person who advocates for improving the health and conditions of developers. He always takes the side of the developers first and then the publishers. It makes sense that he is in contact with multiple sources. But even taking into account all the information he has shared with us, that does not make him a god-like figure who cannot make mistakes.
That he says the next title is still in an early development stage is likely a mistake. I am sure that it [the game] has already gone through the early development stages. It is in no way stuck in that condition.
From what I’ve heard, it is 60% to 70% finished.

Another insider, Yan2295, writes in the forum that he considers Jason Schreier to be a reliable source. However, GTA 6 is “definitely not” in early development. He believes that this could mean an early testing phase.
The insiders Tez2 and Yan2295 often report on projects and new content from Rockstar Games. Players attribute them high credibility.
