Will Fortnite be released this year for the Nintendo Switch? Is the release in 2018? Yes – at least that’s what industry analyst Marcus Sellars claims. What’s the truth about the rumor?
The Nintendo Switch is becoming increasingly popular. It was sold more often in 2017 than the Wii U in its entire lifespan. Approximately 15 million consoles are estimated to have been sold in 2017, which is a significant success.
Given this, it seems likely that there are plans to port and release major and popular titles. According to Marcus Sellars, journalist and industry analyst, two major titles, Diablo 3 and Fortnite, are set to be released this year on Nintendo’s new console:
When asked about a release window, Sellars replied with August / September. If this information is correct, the date could also mark the transition from Early Access to Free2Play for Fortnite. This way, Epic would mobilize the largest possible number of players on the Switch.
For several months now, fans have been repeatedly asking Epic for a concrete date; Epic has always been evasive, only confirming the year 2018.

Epic has also talked about a port
Creative Director Donald Mustard positively responded to a related inquiry on Twitter back in January. When asked about Epic’s interest in a Switch port, Mustard replied:
Which translates to: ”Yes. Yes, I have. Hopefully, we’ll do it someday!” However, Mustard did not divulge more information.
Although analyst Sellars has been right on many occasions – this is an unconfirmed rumor and therefore should be taken with caution.
What do you think about a Switch port? Would you play Fortnite on the Switch?
