Is Destiny 2 “Forge of Hope”? Leaks about release, story – rumors [Update]

In Destiny, the rumor mill is churning: A Redditor unveils numerous potential leaks about Destiny 2!

In recent months, there have been ongoing rumors, speculations, and possible leaks regarding the sequel to Destiny, Destiny 2. Among them were plausible and credible leaks, but some were also quite ridiculous.

Now, a user named Inside_Leaks appears on Reddit. He claims to have received information about the future of Destiny from an important Bungie employee. He wants to remain anonymous. The information is said to be officially released at the upcoming Activision conference.

Destiny 2 is called “Forge of Hope” and will be released in November – according to the leak

The information seems plausible and aligns with the details and leaks that have surfaced in recent months. However, this information could also be completely faked.

• The sequel is titled “Destiny II: Forge of Hope”.
• It will be released in the fourth quarter of 2017, likely between November 4th and November 18th.
• It will be available on 5 platforms: PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox Scorpio (TBA), and PC.
• The PS4 exclusivity for certain content is maintained, limited to 3 months.
• At launch, there will be three editions with specific in-game cosmetics.
• The game features a brand new engine that allows for rapid creation and integration of new content into the world of Destiny.
• New events, storylines, and gameplay mechanics are expected every 1-2 months.

Spoilers regarding the story

• The story follows the end of “The Taken King”, after Oryx’s death.
• The Cabal forces attack the Last City, and it is up to the Guardians to stop the Cabal.
• While doing so, the Guardians will also learn what happens to Queen Mara Sov and the mysterious Exo.
• The new raid targets the leader of the Cabal.

• In addition to regular events, there will be a major content update every quarter.
• Bungie already has a small team working on the next major expansion for Fall 2018, which will focus on the Vex, Kabr, and Praydeth.
• And: Previous characters will have to be left behind. With the new engine, this step is necessary. However, there will be numerous new customization options for the Guardians.
• The next content update for Destiny is expected in May 2017.

Note: All this information is not officially confirmed! However, leaks have frequently surfaced just before such announcement events in the past. We will likely soon know what is true after the Activision conference. Maybe someone just wants to make themselves important shortly before the conference…

Update 11:00 PM: Bungie’s Marketing Director Eric Osborne has denied the rumors on Twitter. Meanwhile, there are now concrete details about Destiny 2 from Activision’s conference call.
