For weeks now, there hasn’t been any really exciting raid boss in Pokémon GO. We give you a glimpse of the legendary monsters yet to come and tell you when the next useful Pokémon will finally arrive in raids.
Here’s the current situation: If you look at the list of past legendary raid bosses since the beginning of November, it’s a bit disappointing:
- Regirock, Registeel, and Regice
- Kobalium
- Terrakium
- Viridium
- Heatran
- Boreos
- soon for a week Armored Mewtwo
Except for Terrakium, these are all Pokémon that don’t play a major role in raids or gyms. They are not among the best attackers in the game.

What comes after Boreos in Pokémon GO?
It’s obvious: Boreos is part of the trio “Forces of Nature”. The other two Pokémon from this trio, Voltolos and Demeteros, should follow soon. After all, Niantic also brought the Knights of Integrity consecutively into the raids.
If Niantic stays true to this line, we can expect both Pokémon in their Incarnate form in March and April.
Will Voltolos and Demeteros be good? In the Incarnate form, the two Pokémon cannot unleash their full potential. The better form, the Therian form, is likely still some time away, so you won’t be able to utilize the most potential here in the near future.
In the Incarnate form, Demeteros is still incredibly strong. It learns the Ground move Earth Power and dominates the Ground attackers. So even this form is a better Ground attacker than Groudon or Stalobor. However, one should keep in mind that the Therian form of Demeteros is even stronger.
Unfortunately, Voltolos has quite weak moves, which is why it cannot fully realize its potential. But again, the Therian form is better, and the Incarnate form serves more as a candy distributor.
What alternatives are there?
The Tao Trio: We have not yet seen the Tao Trio in Pokémon GO and it should be quite interesting. With Zekrom, we have the best Electric attacker, and with Reshiram, the best Fire attacker in the game.
However, the two Pokémon will be overshadowed by Kyurem, which has the highest attack stat of all Pokémon after Deoxys. This makes it by far the best Dragon attacker in the game and the best all-rounder.
When could the Tao Trio come? If the remaining Pokémon from the “Forces of Nature” trio truly arrive in March and April, we could see the powerful Pokémon from the Tao Trio as early as May.
Perhaps Niantic will also introduce something else in the raids in May, saving these 3 beasts for the summer. That’s when most players typically play, and releasing them at that time certainly makes sense.
Are there any other candidates? There are still quite a few candidates from previous generations that do not yet exist as Shiny in the game. Such raid bosses could also be introduced for one month each. These include, for example:
- Origin Forme of Giratina
- Dialga
- Palkia
- Vesprit, Selfe, and Tobutz
When can we expect the next good raid boss? In March or April, Demeteros will likely come to the raids. The Pokémon is quite useful even in its Incarnate form and would already be more worthwhile than Boreos.
After that, you probably have to hope for the Tao Trio, or you have to keep your fingers crossed that the best Ghost attacker will return with Shiny Giratina in its Origin form.
