The “Iron Trials” are back in Call of Duty: Warzone – this time on the small map Rebirth Island. The rules are tougher, the fights longer, and MeinMMO shows you rules and tips for the hardest game mode in Warzone.
With the playlist update on March 3, the Iron Trials returned to Call of Duty: Warzone. The mode was already available for a few weeks on the old map Verdansk ’84 and was very popular there.
Players have higher health, headshots with sniper weapons are less effective, no free loadouts – those who want to survive here need “iron” nerves and must adapt to the new rules.
MeinMMO shows you here the modified rules and gives tips on what you should pay attention to compared to the normal battle royale:
CoD Warzone: Iron Trials – Rules
The Iron Trials take place on Rebirth Island and can be played as “duos”. The mode will remain in the playlist until March 17 at 7 PM.
The basic rules correspond to a normal battle royale in Warzone, including Gulag and shrinking play area.
However, there are significant adjustments beyond the basic rules that change the game dynamics and combat:
- Match time and play area circle
- Compared to normal Rebirth Island, the circles last longer and the overall playtime has increased.
- Loadouts
- There are no free loadouts – if you want your weapons, you have to buy the box yourself.
- Vehicles
- There are only ATVs (quads).
- Buy station increased prices
- Armor bundle: 2,000
- Gas mask: 4,000
- Cluster: 4,000
- Precision airstrike: 4,500
- Self-revive: 5,000
- Drone: 6,000
- Loadout: 10,000
- Specialist bonus: 30,000
- Cash
- Instead of keeping 20%, killed operators keep 30% of the cash.
- Base health
- Instead of 100, you have 250 health.
- Healing starts after 7 seconds instead of 5.
- Per second, you heal 40 health instead of 120.
- Start equipment
- Magnum and sawtooth (melee).
- Loot pool
- Ground and crate loot significantly adjusted.
- Normal (gray) weapons
- Normal weapons already have an attachment – usually a larger magazine.
- Epic (purple) and Legendary (orange) weapons
- High-tier weapons are more difficult to find.
- Killstreaks
- Are much rarer to find.
- Cash spawns
- Large piles of cash are significantly rarer.
- Field upgrades
- No “Dead Silence”, no “Special Ammunition”.
- Sniper rifles
- Headshots are only lethal within 30 meters.
- Stun grenades
- The stun lasts only half as long.
- Stims
- Healing is slowed down by 50%.
- If you take damage, you only have normal health regeneration.
The adjustments result in a higher overall time-to-kill – even with sniper rifles and headshots. Movement, accuracy, stamina – while you have a better chance of surviving a short firefight, you must also put more pressure on your opponents.
CoD Warzone: Iron Trials Tips
In addition to the rules, we also want to give you a few small tips for your first rounds in the Iron Trials on Rebirth Island.
You will find here a selection of strong weapons and what you should pay attention to with your firearms. Additionally, recommendations for perks and a few thoughts on playstyle.
Weapons – Large magazines with substantial damage
Stable and accurate weapons are even more important in the Iron Trials than in the normal modes. You need to keep your enemies under fire longer, and the time-to-kill at range often exceeds one second.
So look for guns with large magazines, high damage per shot, and strong stability. However, you will have to make more compromises because something is always missing.
We have selected a strong selection for you:
- Primary
- Vanguard: Bren / MG42
- Cold War: Stoner / AK-47
- CoD MW: PKM / Bruen
- Secondary
- Vanguard: PPSh / Owen Gun
- Cold War: AK-74u / Bullfrog
- CoD MW: Bizon / MP7
Currently, Vanguard weapons are very popular and strong in Warzone. It’s best to choose one of the newer weapons. However, you can also succeed with the old CoD weapons.
Perks – Focus on healing and reconnaissance
Due to the large amount of health points and the long time before regeneration starts, the perk “Fixer” becomes central, while “Ghost” plays almost no role in the current meta:
- Blue: Fixer / KRD
- Red: Overkill / Fill Up / Points Friend
- Yellow: Eager / Tracker
If you acquire an expensive loadout, you should always go for “Overkill” to have 2 adjusted weapons in the game. If you find a strong ground loot weapon, feel free to use “Points Friend” – it grants you more of the scarce cash upon mission completions.
For the yellow perk, “Eager” is very popular. The boost when switching weapons feels very pleasant. However, since enemies can often flee, “Tracker” can also be beneficial for you.
Playstyle – Easier to flee, harder to kill
Higher time-to-kill: Unless you receive a sniper headshot from 30 meters away, your high health points almost always allow you to react to gunfire.
Players with good movement are clearly at an advantage here, and the use of cover is extremely important. Overall, the pace of fights decreases, leading to prolonged engagements.
Therefore, be a bit more patient, coordinate more with your duo partner, and stay together as much as possible. Together, you have 800 health points including armor.
Less cash: Discuss beforehand what you want to buy with the scarce cash. Solo runs during shopping trips can be a significant disadvantage.
Weaker sniper weapons: Be more cautious during your advances, but not in terms of reconnaissance. Look over cover often and be aware of where the enemy is.
In the Iron Trials, you need to be much less afraid that a sniper will take you out of the match immediately.
Conversely: Plan your sniper shots better. Use a ping to check how far you are from an enemy beforehand. If the enemy is 40 meters away – try to get closer to 30 meters.
No free loadouts: The free loadouts on Rebirth Island have always been a mixed bag – they often land too far away to be accessed safely.
In the Iron Trials, however, your own weapons make a huge difference, especially at range. Be stingy, save for the loadout, or grab weapons from fallen enemies.
Whatever you do: Make sure to find a stable weapon with a large magazine for your match.
The Iron Trials are considered a kind of hard or ranked mode in Warzone. Those who survive here can pat themselves on the back – and even receive a special calling card.
