(Not) a perfect home for disappointed Sims fans
What do the reviews say? The game has managed to catch some Sims fans who are dissatisfied with EA’s handling of the series.
- Sparx419 writes (via Steam): “If you love the life simulation genre but are frustrated by the endless DLC model and restrictions of The Sims 4, inZOI is definitely worth a look.”
- AliceMAD is sure (via Steam): “After playing The Sims for years, I can confidently say that this game is the future! EA has really ripped us off. Give inZOI a few years, and it will surpass The Sims in every way.”
- Anakin Skywalker takes an even harsher tone (via Steam): “The graphics in this game make my PC sound like an international airport. If inZOI becomes successful, there really is no reason for another Sims.”
Currently, there is still the greatest need for improvement in gameplay and technology. Many reviews, whether positive or negative, agree on this.
- choccyla writes (via Steam): “The game is fun when it works, but I would wait until it’s polished a bit before buying Early Access.” It is said that the game frequently froze, which only could be fixed by restarting the PC. Nevertheless, there’s a thumbs up.
- monsterfurby gives a thumbs down and writes (via Steam): “It looks pretty and definitely has potential, but at the moment it doesn’t tell any stories. […] If you are a Sims player who can spend hours in CAS (“Create a Sim”) and build mode, it may be for you. I, on the other hand, tend more towards emergent storytelling and am currently quite disappointed.”
Many fans also praise that the developers respond quickly to feedback from the community. For example, the team removed a controversial feature after a brief protest. You can read more about it in this article: inZOI removes a controversial feature after facing angry protests for the last 24 hours
