The flood of bad news surrounding Battlefield 2042 doesn’t seem to want to subside. A well-known insider now claims that EA is also very dissatisfied – and could even turn the entire business model of the game upside down. MeinMMO tells you more.
The latest Battlefield is not only struggling with fans. Battlefield 2042 apparently performs so poorly and is currently losing so many players that even the cheat providers have stopped supporting the game.
The well-known insider Tom Henderson has now shared on Twitter that EA is also unhappy with the performance of the game. In a tweet, he said:
EA is reportedly very disappointed with the performance of Battlefield 2042 and is “reviewing all options” regarding the title, including the possibility of moving to some form of free-to-play.

Henderson has reported many trustworthy and accurate news about Battlefield in advance in the past. Nevertheless, this information is unofficial and should therefore be taken with caution. A confirmation that Battlefield 2042 will become free-to-play is therefore not yet.
Negative sentiment surrounding Battlefield 2042 reaches critical proportions
The negative sentiment surrounding Battlefield 2042 existed even before the release thanks to a disappointing beta. Even 3 months after the release, the negative news continues for DICE.
The problems are coming from all directions: Recently, a lot of attention has been given to the drastically declining player numbers, thethreat of shutting down the subreddit, and extraordinary refunds from Steam to unhappy players.
The latest update, which has changed the highly criticized scoreboard, has also not satisfied the community.
EA has already reacted in the past with major changes in the management of DICE. If the insider is correct, EA is also trying to turn the tide with more drastic measures. Thus, the payment model of the game itself could also undergo a major overhaul.
Whether this happens is currently hard to assess. That not everything is poorly received in Battlefield 2042 is shown by the return of Rush:
