Season 9 of Destiny 2 is slowly coming to an end. But in the Sundial, a new boss is demanding everything from you once again. How to win the battle and why the skirmish is well received among the Guardians, you can read here.
This activity is about: The PvE centerpiece from the Season of Dawn is clearly the Sundial. Together with the start of the new community event Empyrean Foundation, a new Sundial boss has also found his way to Destiny 2 on February 4th – Inotam, the Triumvirate Forgotten.
To challenge Inotam, you must complete the Sundial as usual. But instead of one final boss, you’ll encounter three enemies there.
Defeating Inotam, the Triumvirate Forgotten
This is how the boss fight works: At the beginning of the boss encounter, you are greeted by the three Psions against whom you have fought throughout the entire season. Before you can strike, the Harvester Triumvirate unites into a Super Psion: Inotam.
Now you have a short time to deal damage to the new boss. But hold back for now. Because you can only scratch the boss’s health bar before Inotam becomes immune.

Together with the damage immunity, you will be teleported to another arena. From now on, the fight roughly divides into three phases:
- Defeat the mini-boss to return to the boss room
- Capture and defend plates to break the immunity shield
- Boss damage phase on Inotam
You have to repeat the entire process three times. Because each time Inotam loses a third of his health, the game starts over.
This is how the mini-boss phase works: In the center of the area, one of the original Psion Harbingers spawns. This enemy, however, has significantly less health than in previous Sundial runs.
In addition to the mini-boss, some Cabal will also appear to support you. You don’t necessarily have to take them out. Once the mini-boss is defeated, you will find yourself facing the real boss.
Now it’s time to capture zones: When standing against Inotam again, the immunity shield must be broken. Conveniently, there are three platforms in the arena. Which plate you need to capture first and then protect for a while from enemies is indicated by a star-shaped quest marker.
In the first run, you need to capture one plate, in the second, twice as many, and finally, all three plates need to be captured. It doesn’t matter whether you split up or tackle the plates one by one.
During this phase, more and stronger adds will appear depending on the boss damage. To make matters worse, Inotam bombards you with three hard-hitting abilities:
- If you’re enveloped in a purple force field and seemingly immobile, shoot yourself free.
- If you see blue crackling energy around you, quickly leave the area. A lightning strike follows.
- Inotam can also hurl homing fireballs at you. So always keep your eye on the boss. Those who react quickly can even shoot down the projectiles.
Inotam is vulnerable – now what?? All plates have been captured and the final boss is vulnerable. Now it’s time to unleash everything you have. Unlike other bosses from, for example, raids, Inotam doesn’t just stand still.
It may happen that he moves around the arena or is currently taking cover behind objects. Even without his shield, the boss is dangerous and has access to his abilities. Additionally, the adds will try to disrupt you.
Once you have mastered all these phases three times, Inotam will finally be defeated. You will be teleported to the beginning of the Sundial and get to claim your loot. Title hunters will now be glad to be one step closer to the “Savior”.
The Guardians are pleasantly surprised by the new boss
Why are the Guardians praising Inotam? Players are enjoying the final fight of the Sundial. The reasons for this are two factors:
- Inotam is tougher than expected. Especially on the legendary difficulty, the fight demands a lot from the Guardians.
- Many players are surprised because hardly anyone expected such a complex fight. The surprise was even greater when Inotam united the strength of the three previous bosses.
Bungie, you did well with the Inotam fight 🙂

Especially in comparison to the end of Season 8, the Inotam encounter can really shine. The pain from the less successful finale of the Vex Offensive is still quite present in the memory of the Destiny community.
Weeks were announced for the “Immarital Spirit,” only to then fully disappoint. The boss fight took place in the same arena. Moreover, the final boss was even easier than the standard variant.

Have you faced Inotam yet? What do you think of the final boss of the Sundial? Is Bungie on the right track? Speculations about the end of the current season can be found here:
