New information about The Division 1.8 has been released. We summarize everything briefly!
The State of the Game aired on September 14, 2017. It was quite eventful. The developers from Massive and Red Storm discussed three important upcoming dates as well as two new features of update 1.8.
We summarize the information.
3 dates upcoming in the next few weeks
Get your calendar out, these dates are worth marking.
Update 1.7.1 will be released next week
Next Tuesday, on September 19, update 1.7.1 will be released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This patch will be implemented to fix the RPM glitch.
Anyone who exploited this fire rate glitch has already been banned or may still face punishment. Massive declared it an exploit. They announced last week that numerous agents have been banned. It should be fixed next week.
The PTS for The Division 1.8 is coming
On September 26, the public test servers for update 1.8 will start. Numerous players will then be able to test some new features of update 1.8 in advance and provide feedback to the developers.
- All Division players on PC have access to the PTS.
- Console players will also gain access to the PTS, but not all of them. Those who were invited to the PTS for 1.7 will definitely be able to participate again for 1.8. Additionally, further invitations will be sent out. More information will follow in the future.
The second Global Event is coming
On October 3, the second Global Event called Assault will start. You can read about the modifiers this event brings in the provided link.
This event has been delayed by a few weeks to allow Massive to revise the masks and the event leaderboards. The masks will no longer be tied to the leaderboards.
A new rogue mechanic in 1.8
The rogue mechanic in the Dark Zone has not been touched since the launch of The Division. With 1.8, it will be revamped:
- There is no friendly fire anymore. You cannot accidentally go rogue.
- Before going rogue, you need to show your intent (by holding down the up arrow key). Other agents will then have about one second to react.
Previously, one only realized that another agent became rogue when they had already shot at them. With the new system, other agents can quickly prepare for an attack. - Your ISAC system will inform you about rogue intentions.
- Group members can choose not to go rogue.
- If a deceased rogue player returns to their squad, which is still rogue, they will also automatically become rogue again.
- There is no longer a timer when hunting people. Instead, you can remain in “manhunt” as long as you want. Rewards will only be given when you run to a random location indicated on the map and deactivate your manhunt status there.
- The maximum manhunt rank is 5. Depending on the rank, there are reward caches (rank 1 = one cache, etc.)
- These reward caches are “manhunt caches”. They can contain exotics and classified items. You do not need to extract these caches from the Dark Zone; they go directly into your inventory.
- The Banshee set will be adapted to this new rogue mechanism.
- In general, it should now be more rewarding to hunt other agents, but also to hunt rogues.

Information about the Resistance mode
Update 1.8 also introduces a new PvE mode: Resistance. There has also been some new information about this:
- It is a horde mode in which you must face waves of PvE enemies.
- This mode is infinite. There is no final objective.
- There are no checkpoints. If you die, you have to start over. The first waves start at difficulty level Hard, then Challenging, then comes Legendary, and finally “Endless” (a new difficulty level).
- Every 5 waves, there will be a boss wave. These can be seen as milestones that motivate players to defeat more bosses.
- The individual waves (wave 1, wave 2, etc.) will play out similarly each time. We aim for a certain consistency. Nevertheless, there should also be random elements in every wave. But when restarting the mode, you will approximately know: “Be careful, wave 6 will include the drones.”
- Some waves also have time limits. For example, if you do not eliminate a boss within the given time, you lose.
- Every 10 waves, there are better rewards: caches that have better loot pools.
- In Resistance, you do not only kill enemies; you can also earn buffs. How and when you use them is up to you.
Additionally: With 1.8, four new exotic weapons are coming: two precision rifles (which form a weapon set), one LMG, and one SMG.
In the future, there will likely be more information about the contents of 1.8.
Until then, you can find all previous information about the new PvP mode Skirmish of The Division 1.8 here.
