Harrison Ford, the actor of the cult character Indiana Jones, explained in an interview why he does not want to retire at the age of 81. However, he is saying goodbye to a major role.
On July 13, 2023, actor Harrison Ford will turn 81 years old. Nevertheless, he wants to remain active in the film business and explains what makes his profession so wonderful.

“I love to work”
Many know Harrison Ford primarily as Han Solo from the Star Wars saga as well as the main character in Indiana Jones. Soon, the 5th installment of the adventure franchise, “Dial of Destiny,” will be released.
Despite his 80 years, Harrison Ford does not shy away from playing his iconic role in the new film.
In an interview, Ford was asked whether he would retire once he turns 81. He explained why that is not an option for him:
I don’t feel good when I don’t have work. I love to work… I like to feel useful. It’s my Jones, I want to be helpful.

When asked what exactly he enjoys about the job, Ford answered that it is the people he works with:
“The intensity and intimacy of collaboration… it’s the shared ambition that somehow emerges from words on a page. I do not plan what I want to do in a scene, and I do not feel forced to do anything, but I am naturally influenced by the things I am working on.”
Even though Harrison Ford continues his career, the upcoming Indiana Jones film still signifies a great farewell for the actor and the fans. Ford explained to Total Film:
“This is the last film of the series, and it is the last time I will play the character. I assume that this will be the last time he [Indiana Jones] appears in a film.”
