The mobile game Clash of Clans is celebrating its birthday. On this occasion, it released a documentary that accurately summarizes 40 years of Clash history. However, the game is only 10 years old.
This is Clash of Clans: Clash of Clans is a mobile game for iOS and Android, where you build your own village and attack other players’ villages. It is today one of the most well-known and successful mobile games ever (via Sensor Tower).
However, there are pay-to-win mechanics in the game that provide real-money advantages. In addition, it can lead to some strange situations in Clash of Clans when mechanics are exploited.
The game originally launched on August 2, 2012, hence it celebrates its tenth birthday. On this occasion, an absolutely genuine and definitely reliable documentary has been released, in which the entire history of the game is dissected (Note from the editor: This is irony).
It quickly becomes clear: Yes, “Clash of Clans” is only ten years old. But the true, background, and absolutely not fabricated story of the game began as early as the summer of 1982.
We embed the “docu” here for you:
What does the definitely correct documentary say about Clash of Clans?
What’s in the video: If you don’t feel like watching the video, we’ll summarize it here. 40 years of gaming history is really a lot.
In the documentary, a seemingly reliable older man with a bushy beard named Leo Mallia says he has actively followed the game as a “Clash documentarian” for 40 years. He knows what he’s talking about when he says: “Everyone thinks they know the story. But they don’t even know half of it.”
Then we are led through the history of the game, starting in the summer of ’82 with three teenagers who developed the arcade game “Clash” together. And since it’s the ’80s, there are arcade machines, tube televisions, and old joysticks everywhere.
The game is an obvious Mario clone, but just as successful. Other, absolutely reliable sources come to speak, reporting on the “Clash craze” in arcades, epic stories in news broadcasts about the barbarian, and even his own cereal box. We all remember.
How did Clash of Clans come about? As is fitting for a great story, a rift occurs. Someone lets fame go to their head, while someone else sinks into their parents’ basement.
Spin-off projects arise. “Clash-Dash”, a popular racing game. A perfume named “Bühm”. And, of course: A Clash movie.
In the end, everything goes down the drain, as the next attempt fails: “Cradle of Darkness” – a bloody, dark variant of Clash. Unfortunately, that was the worst video game of all time.
Then there’s a bit more drama until the big revival of Clash occurs in 2012 – namely with Clash of Clans.
How much truth is there in this? Well, Clash of Clans definitely came out in 2012. The rest of the documentary seems like a belated April Fool’s joke – but you can’t choose when you have a birthday. However, you can decide how old you get.
What do you think of the birthday gag? Can you relate to it? Or is Clash of Clans generally not for you? Let us know in the comments.
